Womxn’s Splitboarding 101 Clinic Scholarship

Curious about splitboarding or ready to level up your skills? This in-bounds Womxn’s Splitboard 101 clinic offers a supportive, low-pressure environment to learn transitions, move more efficiently on the skin track, and connect with fellow splitboarders, both in the classroom and out in the field!

This scholarship is generously offered through a partnership with Whitewater Mountain Resort and Whitewater Athlete & KWM Mentor, Ali Wong, to support women and marginalized genders in advancing their splitboarding skills. One recipient will receive a fully funded spot (including lift pass and splitboard gear rental - if required) in the Womxn’s Splitboard 101 clinic at Whitewater’s Coldsmoke Powderfest on February 6, 2026. AST Scholarships 2026

This year we were thrilled to offer two scholarships, made possible with the generous partnership of Kootenay Backcountry Guides, to support women and marginalized genders in advancing their backcountry skills through avalanche education. One scholarship was awarded for a fully funded spot in the KBG Womxn specific AST-1 course February 14-15th, 2026. The other scholarship was awarded for one fully funded spot on the KBG Womxn specific AST-2 February 13-16th, 2026. These courses are women/non-binary specific which provides the opportunity to learn from female instructors in a women-centered environment.

A person in a blue jacket, wearing gloves and a blue cap with sunglasses, is digging or inspecting the snow in a snowy outdoor environment with trees in the background.

Our mission is to reduce barriers and increase diversity in the backcountry. These scholarships covers the cost of the courses for individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford this opportunity. They provide the chance to deepen knowledge of avalanche safety, grow skills in the backcountry, and become part of an inclusive outdoor community.

An AST-1 course is designed to teach the basic skills needed to get up to speed and maximize your fun and safety in the backcountry.

An AST-2 course is for more advanced students who have already taken an AST 1 and are looking to dial in their decision-making tools and processes so they can find the best snow and increase their safety.

Applications are closed at this time.
